My Very First Newts-letter !
Georgia’s First Newts-letter 🦎
I’ve decided to do a little update for friends, colleagues, family, or anyone who I may have any interest in - or even neutrality towards– the work I make!
I’ve gotten quite tired of social media and am looking for new ways to tell people what’s going on in the world of Georgia Krause (LLC).
If you feel so inclined, reply back and tell me what you’ve been up to. And if you feel so disinclined please mark this as spam or respond with a “>:("“ so I know if you want out.
Speaking of new ways to reach people! Rainbow Rider is currently on tour!!! My producer Calvin Tran and I have been talking for awhile about how to break the traditional film festival mold and bring the film directly to the audience. This Fall we’re attempting just that. Taking a page from indie musicians, we have planned a pretty DIY tour through the Southeast: Zigzagging from Richmond to a few cities in North Carolina and finally ending in Knoxville.
Our venues range from universities, to queer mechanics shops, to indie theater and lesbian bars - I’m really excited to see how it goes! There could be screenings with 50 people in attendance, there could be 3. One thing I’m pretty certain of is that we won’t be bored.
I’ll keep you posted on how this all shakes out!

A first draft of our tour poster! I feel like a rockstar.
Another very exciting thing that happened this Fall is that I got funding to complete principal photography for Oh! Possum! - my feature length true crime opossum documentary!

The first slide of our working deck.
The film follows Grubby - a renegade opossum who stows away from Seattle to Alaska. When she is discovered and evades capture she upends a sleepy town—having babies, inciting heated online discourse, and igniting a debate over what we owe the animals living alongside us.
A crew of myself and three incredibly talented folks (Andrew Burton, Sara Matasick, and my day one producer Clementine Briand) went up to chilly Homer, Alaska and had a great time filming with the Homer PD, Alaska Fish and Game, and community members of Homer who were involved in the story of one special stowaway marsupial who made a giant impact.

Slightly out of focus but very gleeful capture of our small but mighty crew in Homer, AK.
This shoot was made possible by the Newfest/Netflix New Voices grant, a Mountainfilm Commitment Grant, and very cool loaner Red V Raptor camera from the folks over there. I feel very lucky to have gotten one step closer to makng the world’s first true crime opossum documentary. :)
Well that’s what I’ve got for now - I promise not to send another Newts-letter until I have something to say.
Til next time!
